| Les Buissonnets, chilhood house of St Therese - June 2005
Back to main page
Visiting Les Buissonnets will allow you to travel back in time for about a hundred years. I invite you again to read "The Story of a Soul" if you haven't do so yet. You'll get to know St. Therese. She is a saint and a Doctor of the Church. In the 2000 years of the history of the Catholic Church, only 33 saints were proclaimed Doctors of the Church. Sometimes, saints represent a state of life that is unreachable to us. They seem so far away from us. But here at Les Buissonnets, you will be reminded that St. Therese was one of us. She was with us on earth no so long ago, only about a hundred years. She was of the generation of our grandparents. You'll visit the same place where St. Therese used to live her daily life. You will see her toys, her books, her desk, her living-room, etc. When you go to the garden in the back of her house, you'll see the artwork showing her begging her dad to enter the Carmel. Remember, she was fifteen. Watching this scene of a girl, so young and so committed to love Jesus, I was very moved. I hope one day you can go to Lisieux, make sure you don't miss Les Buissonnets. |
